The Macon State College School of Education is committed to preparing successful teachers for Bibb County and the region, and, in responsible partnership with public school systems, to support and retaining them as teachers for Central Georgia. The Georgia Educator Support Alliance (GESA) at Macon State College’s School of Education, an initiative which debuted last fall, is designed to help keep talented new teachers in the classroom.
GESA develops and introduces programs for mentoring, induction and retention of teachers, in alignment with the University System of Georgia, Board of Regents and the Georgia Department of Education. The programs and services of the Alliance, include but are not limited to, providing professional development, coaching, technical assistance and mentoring support for pre-serve and induction level teachers.
The Georgia Educator Support Alliance also works collaboratively with others to provide customized professional learning and consulting services for all Georgia educators in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, technology, and leadership. GESA currently has projects in several school districts in Georgia.
